Best Banana Bread

This is the best banana bread! It’s moist, sweet and packed with banana. This is a take on my Grandma Jean’s hugely popular banana bread recipe; an all-time favourite in our family. In my family, there are three popular mix-ins; chocolate chips, walnuts or blueberries! Yields 2 loaves (because you’ll surely want to share one!)

To make the Best Banana Bread

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly butter 2 – 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pans and dust with flour. Set aside.

Sift together flour, baking soda and salt, set aside. In another bowl, cream together butter and sugars until smooth, then beat in eggs. Add in flour mixture and mix until combined. Stir in vanilla, sour cream and mashed bananas until combined. Divide batter between the two loaf pans. If adding any mix-ins, gently fold the ingredient into each loaf pan.

Bake for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow loaves to cool in pans for about 10 minutes and then turn out onto a rack to cool.

Hint: If mixing in chocolate chips, dust them lightly first with flour. This will help prevent the chocolate from sinking to the bottom of the bread as it bakes.
